Near Albi, among Gaillac vineyard
Touny les Roses château was built in 1880 on a former farm. The owner, Dr Cassan, was Albi Mayor under the Second Empire. As for the production of wines in our castle, we found traces under the First Empire.
At the end of the 19th century, Marchandeau family bought this place : Léon, lawyer in Gaillac, his sons Marcel, whose poet pseudonym is Touny Lerys (a tribute to his family home) and Paul, who was a minister under 4th Republic. The castle belonged to this family during almost a century.
Our house, as well as its gardens, are identified in the Patrimoine culturel Midi-Pyrénnées
Nowadays, our guest home is a poetic and charming 19th century mansion surrounded by 17 acres of park, formal gardens, woods, the river Tarn and vineyards, in the middle of Gaillac wine country, and yet only 9 miles from Albi, Unesco World Heritage. Our guest rooms remind this past :
The charm of the 18th century still remains while arriving in our guesthouse. Especially in the Sienna suite and Parma room: ocher ground floor, ancient ceiling beams…
On the first floor, you’ll benefit of 19th century volumes :
The wide Poet suite, socalled in honor of Touny Lerys, features a design bathroom : 20th century appears in our castle…
