Owners description

Situated in the heart of the Vendée regionPays de la Loire, our manoir is surrounded by over an acre of private gardens and backs onto a small stream and parkland, making it just about a perfect setting. An ambitious, luxury restoration began in 2011 after the property was purchased by Shari Swan and Warren Coulson, two Canadian entrepreneurs living in Amsterdam the past 15 years.

With over 20 years of experience in marketing, branding and product design, Swan and Coulson are bringing contemporary design, events and an international clientele to the Vendée which is known as the ‘Coast of Light’ due to it’s sunny and warm climate. We offer bed and breakfast, local tours and excursions as well as a private Gite/Apartment (currently under renovation) for those looking for something more private and/or a longer stay.

We offer four luxurious ensuite rooms and one family suite which features two rooms and an ensuite, all designed as spacious, relaxing and comfortable environments.

Every suite is furnished with custom made furniture and the architectural features of the building have been preserved as much as possible through high ceilings, stone walls and solid wooden floors. Fine pressed cotton linens, microfiber duvets and plush down and microfiber pillows are what we are all about.

The suites all have an LCD TV, DVD player, access to the mini bar, and wireless internet connection. The bathrooms, paved with italian tiles, feature large rain showers and bathtubs, Compagnie de Provence skin care products, heated towel racks, bathrobes, and just about everything you might need for unwinding after a long day.

Completely renovated in 2011-12, Manoir du Moulin is a hidden haven of tranquility and relaxation created by Canadians Warren Coulson and Shari Swan.

Every suite is furnished with custom made furniture, luxurious king size beds and crisp white linens.

The architectural features of the suites have been preserved with original high ceilings, stone walls and solid hardwood floors evoking comfort and charm.

In the study you can relax, have a drink and watch TV or meet other guests. With a fully stocked mini bar, TV, computer and comfy seating it’s a great place to unwind, check your mail or surf the web for ideas on your next excursion.

The Gardens

The gardens surrounding Manoir du Moulin are spread over five thousand square meters and are private and enclosed. There are many features for guests to enjoy including a 250+ year old Maple tree, a small stream, flowers and fruit trees such as apple, cherry, fig, pear and plum. A picnic lunch with a glass of the local sparkling red wine swinging in the hammock is a great way to while away an afternoon.

Along the walls you will find kiwi and grape vines basking in the sun as well as raspberry, strawberry and watermelon plants. The delicious jams served at breakfast are all made with these organic fruits from our gardens. Feel free to sample the fruit as you take a stroll and you may even get a chance to feed the resident squirrels!

A vegetable garden brimming with potatoes, garlic, tomatoes, zucchini, onions, eggplants, hot, mild and sweet peppers and much more will soon be contributing its bounty to the famous Manoir du Moulin breakfasts as Shari is busily preparing and planting it as we speak.
