Le Mas de la Madeleine

Our traditional character farmhouse, set in the midst of expansive grounds, overlooks the beautiful medieval village of Largentière, in the Regional Park of the Monts d’Ardèche.
We look forward to welcoming you here. We have injected a new lease of life into the family home by creating, with our son Alban, the chef, an inn offering exquisite dishes and delightful rooms.

The Domaine du Mas de la Madeleine is a green haven, from where you can admire superb views over Largentière, with its listed castle and superb church. The Domaine is set amidst two hectares of landscaped and flower-planted terraces; the traditional farmhouse, the mas, houses the inn and the superb guest rooms. The ancient outhouses have been turned into gîtes. The swimming pool is reserved exclusively for our guests The Domaine offers commanding views over the medieval village, which, whilst very close, does not intrude upon the property's calm and serenity.

Our inn is a harmonious blend of gastronomy and warmth… 

For twelve years, our chef, Alban Guillemin, has prepared exciting dishes which reflect the local area - bursting with sunshine, authentic, enhanced by the subtlety of fragrant plants and illuminated by colourful flowers. Alban's style is at once youthful and audacious…
You can enjoy Alban's creations in front of the fireplace, in winter, or on the garden terrace during the summer months…
His dishes evolve with the seasons, always inventive, precise and delicious. 

Atmosphere
The herb garden, the many flowerbeds and bushes which form
a variety of geometries, the breathtaking views, the panoramic pool beyond the cherry trees with its long and attractive wrought iron arbour, the grounds with their majestic trees, the ponds hosting goldfish… the magic this place exudes is a true invitation to dream and relax.
All this of course, under the peaceful gaze of the grazing ewes….

Bedroom Eglantine
A camaïeu of powdered rose and prune hues… very cosy,
it remains cool throughout the heat of the summer months, with a spacious terrace offering views over the surrounding nature.

A small apartment with its own private access, this room is enhanced by its superb patina, is flooded with light every morning, and has a terrace which offers shade from the afternoon sun…

Family suite Amandine
Looking out over the valley, it is extremely luminous, facing the rising sun.
The two communicating rooms each have access to the spacious private terrace and are superbly decorated in shades of Roussillon ochre and taupe… Big bed of 160cm, two beds of 90cm and a luminous ensuite bathroom and toilet.

Suite Santoline
Very spacious, at garden level, with a private terrace.
Two communicating vaulted bedrooms, very cool in summer. Big bed of 160cm, 3 beds of 90cm (one in the master bedroom).

Largentière, between garrigue and chestnut trees:
Facing the south, towards the Rhône valley and the Mediterranean, in order to fully enjoy the climate, we have the good fortune of looking out over the southern Ardèche, its Gorges and Pont d'Arc, at just the right altitude (320m above sea level) to appreciate the peace and shade offered by the Cévenol vegetation… Behind us the wild valleys of the region stretch out into the distance, the traditional villages of the Cévennes clinging to the hillsides. Here you are close to all the famed touristic sites of Ardèche, but also to other, lesser known, areas of utmost and authentic beauty, in the midst of a deeply seductive nature.
